Featured: Silky Merino by Malabrigo + New woven scarf pattern!

Featured item: Malabrigo Silky Merino

Malabrigo Silky Merino Yarn is a luxurious blend of silk and merino that is every bit as soft as it looks. The silk adds just enough heaviness to this DK weight single ply to give finished shawls and other pieces maximum drape with just a touch of silky sheen.  Silky Merino is a favorite choice for knitted shawls and other accessories, but did you know it’s also great for weaving?  Read on to check out our new Block After Block Woven Scarf, an easy and approachable project for weavers of all levels.

Emily’s new Block After Block Woven Scarf is a super fun way to let the kettle-dyed colors of Malabrigo sing!  Choose two colors of Malabrigo Silky Merino Yarn for a beautiful wide plaid scarf that drapes like a dream. You can make this simple plain weave scarf on a rigid heddle, 2-shaft or 4-shaft loom – you just need a weaving width of at least 12.5″ and a reed capable of 8 EPI.

A longtime favorite here at the shop, the Endless Ruby Mitts - DK/Light Weight are a fun excuse to grab a skein of your favorite colorway.  These mitts are worked in the round on double pointed needles, with an “afterthought” thumb.  This project goes by fast, making it great for a quick fix or last minute gift.
Size: Fits 6″ to 9″ hand circumference.
Gauge: 6 stitches to 1″ on US size 4 knitting needles.
Yardage: 1 skein of Malabrigo Silky Merino Yarn

Our Cupid's Victim Mitts Pattern is another one-skein project that uses Silky Merino.  Like the Endless Ruby mitts above, these are worked in the round on double-pointed needles with an afterthought thumb. The Little Arrowhead Lace pattern on the tops of these mitts is lovely in tonal or variegated colorways.
Size: Fits 6″ to 9″ hand circumference.
Gauge: 6 stitches to 1″ on US size 4 knitting needles.
Yardage: 1 skein of Malabrigo Silky Merino Yarn (we used LondonSky, our color 4180)
