We hope you are delighted with your experience at Halcyon Yarn! We are glad to assist you with advice about your order at any time.
If you are not satisfied with your purchase please contact us as soon as possible so that we can assist you with a return, exchange, shipping claim, or other service. We are glad to help make it right!

Return Policy

Returns must be made within 30 days of the original purchase, and be in unused condition with original, unopened packaging (labels or sealed packaging) intact. Knitting needles and crochet hooks must be returned within 7 days. Goods sold by weight must be returned at the original purchase weight, not wound down. Larger quantities of a single item may not be returnable, we will notify you before confirming your order if the quantity is non-returnable.

We do not accept returns on sample cards, books, magazines, or patterns, special orders or drop shipped items, items that have been assembled, or otherwise modified, gift certificates, or final sale items. Spinning Wheels and Looms that have shipped free cannot be returned.

If you receive a defective item please contact us immediately and if possible include pictures and a detailed description of the issue so that we can help you.

Shipping charges are non-refundable. You are responsible for return shipping costs.

Refunds are credited to your card as soon as your return is processed, within one to four business days of receiving it. If you purchased items with a volume discount your refund may be adjusted accordingly depending on the quantity returned.

If you need to change your order please contact us soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate your request, but once an order is submitted we cannot guarantee that changes can be made, thanks for your understanding.

How to Make a Return

You may request a return through your customer account, and if your return meets the criteria you'll be given instructions to mail the item back with a note or copy of your invoice. You may also mail returns to us directly; however, we encourage you to request pre-authorization first, in case your return does not qualify for a refund. Exchanges

The fastest way to make an exchange is to make a return for the original item(s) and place a new order for the items you prefer.

Damaged or Lost Orders

Please open and inspect your delivery as soon as you receive it. If damage occurred during shipping or you did not receive your order please get in touch with us immediately for assistance.

If you provided an email when you ordered a tracking message was sent when your order shipped. If you do not receive your order within the expected time frame don't hesitate to get in touch with us for assistance. Please note that most carriers cannot guarantee delivery times.

If your delivery appears to have been damaged please inspect the contents to identify any damaged or missing items and let us know within three business days of delivery. Please keep the packaging (the carrier may require it if a claim is filed), take photos if possible, and contact us with the details.

Please do not file a claim with the carrier directly, if you inititate the claim we are prevented by the carrier from managing the claim on your behalf and we cannot provide a replacement or refund to you directly.

Tracking shows delivered but you can’t find your order? This happens for a few reasons, here’s what to do!

Carriers sometimes deliver to a different entry or nearby address, or they may leave the package at the local USPS, UPS, or FedEx facility. Please check with your neighbors and at other entry areas. If your package still hasn’t been located or delivered by the following day please contact your local post office or carrier office, or let us know and we can help!

Shipping Methods

We ship via UPS, US Postal Service, and FedEx. We offer the actual carrier shipping rates for the address you provide. You may select your preferred carrier service at checkout.
If you would like to request a service that is not shown in the checkout options please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Turnaround Time & Order Tracking

In-stock orders are shipped from our Bath, Maine location within one to three business days. You'll receive an order confirmation email when we receive your order and you'll receive another email with tracking once the order is en route. Most orders are delivered within five to seven business days, however we cannot guarantee delivery times.

Standard & Free Shipping to the contiguous 48 States

Orders over $150 (before any sales tax) qualify for free standard shipping to the contiguous ‘lower 48’ states. Please select this option at checkout, carriers may vary depending on your delivery address. You may also select a preferred carrier at checkout and pay actual shipping rates.

For all other orders, we charge the actual calculated shipping cost offered by our carriers. Rates are quoted based on the weight of your order and you may select the carrier and service you prefer at checkout.

Shipping to AK, HI, APO/FPO

Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and APO/FPO addresses do not qualify for free shipping. Available rates are displayed at checkout.

Select Looms & Spinning Wheels Ship Free

Multi-Shaft Looms, Rigid Heddle Looms, and Spinning Wheels qualify for free standard delivery to the contiguous ‘lower 48’ states. These items cannot be canceled or returned and promotional discounts do not apply. These items may ship separately from other items in your order, therefore delivery times may vary and you’ll receive a separate tracking notification.

Delivery requires a physical address (not a PO box), and a signature may be required.

International Shipping

If you need to use a freight forwarding service (for international deliveries) or require other special consideration please coordinate with us prior to ordering, we are glad to assist you. For more information, please review our full Shipping Policy.

Expedited Shipping

Orders requiring expedited shipping must be received by 1pm (ET) to go out that day, otherwise they will depart the following business day via the selected service. For more information, please review our full Shipping Policy.

Oversize Items

Some larger items will be charged an Oversized Shipping fee. These items are noted as Oversized and you will see the charge in your shopping cart before checking out. If your order qualifies for free shipping but includes an Oversized item you will not be charged the standard shipping rate, however, the oversized fee will be calculated at checkout.

Out-of-Stock Items & Back Orders

If an item is temporarily out of stock you can sign up to receive email notification when it is back in stock. Please click ‘Notify Me’ on the item and enter your email. You will not automatically be subscribed to anything, you’ll just receive one email letting you know the item is again available for purchase. We cannot reserve or accept prepayment for these items via the Notify Me form. If you would like assistance placing a back-order for any of these items please call 800-341-0282 for assistance.

Select out-of-stock items can be back-ordered or pre-ordered. If your order includes items that are not in stock they will ship separately as soon as they are available.

Gift Cards

Gift Certificates

Halcyon Yarn Gift Cards do not expire and can be redeemed at any time online, over the phone or in-store. Gift Cards cannot be redeemed for cash and cannot be transferred. Any credit balance remains on your card until used.

Halcyon Yarn Gift Cards can be delivered immediately by email or we are glad to mail a physical gift card to the lucky recipient.

Account Credits

If you have an account credit for a partially redeemed Gift Certificate issued before September of 2024, your previous Gift Certificate number is still valid and the balance is available.
