Tencel 8/2 is a great weight for a range of weaving projects from yardage for garments or upholstery to knitted accessories. Tencel yarn is soft and silky, and once finished wet or dry it's stronger than cotton. Enjoy the sheen, drape and rich colors for all your woven or lace projects.

Don’t let synthetic be a dirty word for this deluxe cellulose based fiber. The process is 'synthetic' however the raw material is renewable and comes from plants, and the manufacturing is highly efficient and non-polluting. The finished yarn retains many of the best characteristics of its fellow natural fibers!

Weavers: Beautiful on its own, or combined with a variety of other fine yarns. When looking for woven Tencel project inspiration look for patterns calling for mercerized cotton or silk. Please note that Tencel can be very delicate to work with and may be better suited to weft. If you use it in your warp you may experience more breakage than the Bamboo or other similar fine-weight fibers. Once woven the piece is quite strong and stable. Misting the warp lightly with water can sometimes help reduce friction and breakage as you weave.

Knitters: You’ll love the drape of Tencel for sleek and soft lace weight shawls or paired with a cotton to add depth and sheen to a summer top. Test your gauge first - these yarns do not stretch!

8/2 Tencel yarn is available in 8 oz tubes or convenient 400 yard mini cones. Please note that our Tencel and our 8/2 or 16/2 Bamboo are available in many of the same colors.
