Leclerc Nilus II 8-Shaft Floor Loom, Jack Loom with Back-Hinge Treadles

A robust jack loom with ergonomic innovations in the treadle system. The Leclerc Nilus II 8-Shaft Jack Loom addresses common challenges found in multi-shaft weaving, particularly achieving a clean shed with 6 or more shafts. Its innovative design anchors the treadles at the loom’s rear and incorporates a unique rocker mechanism that maintains consistent tension on all treadle cords, whether at rest or depressed. This advancement offers weavers the smooth leg-treadling experience typically associated with 4-shaft looms, while delivering a wide, clear shed across all shafts. Additionally, the treadle system preserves the original Nilus II’s folding capability, enhancing both functionality and convenience. This treadling innovation is featured on the Leclerc Nilus and Leclerc Artisat models.

The Nilus II loom features a stabilizer foot to enhance stability and delivers a consistently good shed with any tie-up configuration. The jack-type model includes a removable top for easy access to shafts, facilitating heddle adjustments. The loom uses 12½" (31.7 cm) heddles and independent shafts guided by side pegs to minimize friction, with an underlying mechanism lifting the frames smoothly. Non-slip polyvinyl foot pads secure the loom firmly to the floor. A friction brake ensures precise tension control. Both the front cloth beam and back thread beam are removable for convenient threading, and the warp beam can be detached for outside beaming. The loom comes with a standard plain beam that can be converted into a sectional warp beam using included rake-like pieces.
