This beautiful Wensleydale top has one of the longest fibers in our natural breed range. A silky and strong fiber known for its lustre.

It's no wonder Wensleydale wool fiber is a favorite among spinners. With such wonderful characteristics as lustrous sheen and smooth long locks it makes incredible yarn. The average staple length ranges betwen approximately 8–12 inches. It is well suited for spinning from the fold or you can simply pre-draft and spin. Since Wensleydale has a tendency to spin into a fairly dense yarn, you may want to blend it with a more crimpy wool top. Yarns spun from Wensleydale wear extremely well, making it a logical choice for items that get heavy use, such as socks and mittens. Also great for hair and beards on needle felted “characters“.
