Springtide Farm, Bremen, ME.
Owners Peter Roth, MD and Wendy Pieh left their hectic urban lives to live in a rural area and
work in agriculture. What was intended to be their 1st purchase of 2 Cashmere goats for this
venture immediately turned in to the purchase of 11 gorgeous Cashmere goats and so
Springtide Farm began. Since that time they have worked hard to become experts in the field
of Cashmere goats becoming certified Cashmere goat judges as well as recognized breeders of
premium quality Cashmere goats for fine fiber and animals. Springtide Farm is also a
professional teaching facility where other farmers come to learn new ideas, technologies and
practices to improve their farms’ productivity.
As well as visiting the gorgeous Cashmere goats we will also see in action the Great Pyrenees
dogs who are in charge of ‘safety’ for the herd. They are indeed an important part of the
working farm.

Cabbage Island Clambakes, Boothbay Harbor, ME.
We will take the boat Bennie Alice out of Boothbay Harbor for our trip to the lovely 5 ½ acre
Cabbage Island in Linekin Bay. Here we will enjoy a traditional Maine Clam/Lobster Bake. The
Moore family has been hosting Clam/Lobster Bakes since 1989 and today four generations of
the family work on the Clambakes from June 21 to September 7.

Susie Stephenson, Edgecomb, ME.
Susie is considered a primitive folk artist. Her inspiration comes from the world around her:
farm animals, her children’s drawings and local maritime scenes. She is a true recycler who
finds used wool clothing which she dyes and cuts into strips and then hooks into a linen
backing. She likes to incorporate non-traditional materials and techniques in her work.
Susie is also the author of Designing and Hooking Primitive Rugs. She is a leader/teacher on rug
hooking cruises and frequent instructor at Halcyon Yarn. We’ll visit her studio/gallery in a restored one
room schoolhouse across the street from her farm.
