Description

Join us for an afternoon of making in community as we stitch the Melt the Ice Hat – inspired by the traditional Norwegian protest hats of the 1940s. Designed by Paul Neary @Yarn_Cult, and published by Needle & Skein in Saint Paul Park, Minnesota, this simple, powerful project invites us to show care, connection and solidarity through making.
Complimentary organic tea provided. Knitters and crocheters alike can participate. All are welcome!

Enjoy 10% in-store on Saturday when you join us for the group!

Saturday, March 21st, 1:00–3:00 pm, in-personHalcyon Yarn, 12 School St., Bath, ME

Pattern required: Already have it? Great! Need it? Pick it up in the shop or online. (When you purchase a pattern through Ravelry or in-store, the designer is paid directly on your behalf, with proceeds donated to immigrant support networks in the Twin Cities.)

Have red yarn leftover? Here is a free pattern for a "mini" Melt the Ice Hat that makes a great pin or keychain. A great project to make at the stitch-in! Mini Melt the Ice Pattern

Support through red yarn: 10% of red yarn sales on the day of the event will go to the Maine Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project.

Free to attend; optional donation jar proceeds split between Needle & Skein and the Maine Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project.

Registration is encouraged, but not required, for free events and groups in case we need to contact you with scheduling updates. If you’d like to preregister, please add the event date to your cart and checkout; no payment is required.

Note: We’ll offer guidance as needed for the knit version, but this isn’t a “how to knit” class—knitters should already know the basics: casting on, knitting, and purling.

Come as you are, and join us – one stitch at a time – as we create with warmth, purpose and care.
